God sets the Lonely in Families

“In the beginning, GOD created the heavens and the earth.” Amazing words establishing God’s sovereignty over all things and founding our context. The Gospel of John masterfully proclaims our beginning and our present
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5

“The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:9-14

God is our everything! He is the origin of our universe, our existence, and our sustaining (Colossians 1:15-23). It is important to take note that God created systems rather than individual things. Nothing exists alone or independent of other things. Throughout the creation account we see God create and then call it good. However, upon creating Adam he looked across His creation and saw something that was not good. Adam stood alone and alone is contrary to the nature of God. Therefore, God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make a helper fit for him.” (Genesis 2:18). God established the systems sustaining our universe and He formed the system that holds society together as well. God built and implemented the system of family. Only God can define marriage and family because he designed it as the foundation of society and as a reflection of His glory. An attack on marriage is an attack on the person of God. Likewise, neglecting marriage and family is to neglect the celebration and proclamation of the glory of the Creator of the Universe.

God has invited us to participate in His divine nature through involvement in marriage and family. We must fight for it, defend it, steward it, work on it, and cherish it. The very foundation of all society is marriage and family. When we focus on our family, we honor the heart of God and strengthen the world around us. You are created in the image of God. Therefore, you are created from relationship, you are created for relationship, and you have been placed in relationship. This is God’s eternal and perfect love for you.
